Job Title: Legal Secretary

About the Job
Responsible for supporting multiple attorneys in their day-to-day practice, completing various administrative tasks, and serving as a point of contact and providing customer service to clients. Coordinate workflow to/from the Production Center, ensuring work is completed within deadlines and according to attorneys’ specifications. Make travel arrangements, schedule meetings, and coordinate internal logistics for space and other needs. Review client work products and get them out the door. Maintain filing systems (primarily electronic). Strong skills in MS Office, organization, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and other contacts.
- High school diploma or equivalent. College, business school, or other relevant continuing education preferred.
- At least four years’ experience as a Legal Secretary, with at least two years’ Litigation experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service. Strong secretarial skills including typing, proofreading, spelling, grammar, and math. Knowledge of MS Office Suite applications, especially MS Word. Ability to organize and prioritize workload, efficiently handle multiple projects, and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines. Able to demonstrate flexibility and initiative, and anticipate what needs to be done. Can understand and follow specific, detailed instructions. Attentive to detail and highly accurate. Professional manner with clients, attorneys, and others.
Equipment, Physical/Mental Demands, Working Conditions
Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine, etc.
Sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with clients in person and via telephone. Ability to crawl, reach, and stretch so as to prepare and maintain files.
Able to deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities. Make decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas and technologies. Communicate and successfully interact with various personalities at all organizational levels.
Typical office setting, normally Monday through Friday business hours. Occasional overtime as required.
