Sammy Sugiura Jr.
Sammy Sugiura Jr. is an Associate in the Litigation Group of Burns White, focusing his practice on complex commercial litigation. Mr. Sugiura has a particular emphasis in employment and labor law, with extensive experience finding creative and cost-efficient solutions that are tailored to meet his clients’ needs.
Mr. Sugiura has successfully represented clients in all phases of litigation, including responding to administrative agency investigations, mediation, depositions, briefing and arguing motions, and settlement negotiations. Mr. Sugiura also has extensive courtroom experience, having taken more than 90 jury and non-jury trials to verdict. He has counseled clients nationwide facing federal and state legal issues.
In addition, Mr. Sugiura works with clients to help avoid litigation by providing practical solutions to a variety of issues, including the drafting of employee handbooks and contracts, revising legal documents to protect trade secrets, and creating policies to prevent workplace violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Mr. Sugiura is a 2007 graduate of the James E. Beasley School of Law at Temple University, where he received the Barrister Award in Trial Advocacy in 2005 and 2006. He received a bachelor of science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002.
Mr. Sugiura is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
