Stephen L. Guzzetti
Stephen L. Guzzetti is an Associate of the Litigation Group at Burns White, concentrating his practice in commercial litigation impacting a wide range of industries, including banking and financial services, and retail/hospitality. He also defends clients in personal injury claims and professional liability cases.
An experienced litigator, Mr. Guzzetti brings a diverse background in civil and criminal litigation to his practice at Burns White. Most recently, he worked at a healthcare defense firm, handling medical malpractice, healthcare law, and insurance defense matters. Mr. Guzzetti was also an Assistant Public Defender in Allegheny County, where he independently managed a substantial caseload from post-sentence motions to direct appeals. In addition, he held a judicial externship for Judge Joy Flowers Conti, U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and a judicial internship for Judge Kevin G. Sasinoski, Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County.
Mr. Guzzetti received a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 2012. While there, he was selected by faculty to serve as a teaching and research assistant in the school of law’s nationally recognized Department of Legal Research and Writing. Mr. Guzzetti was also the founding secretary of the Appellate Moot Court Board, an associate editor of the Duquesne Business Law Journal and a member of the American Bar Association Arbitration Team at Duquesne Law. Additionally, Mr. Guzzetti received the Shalom Moot Court Award and was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for his outstanding performance in written and oral argument.
Mr. Guzzetti graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh in 2009. At Pitt, he was a member of the Gold Key Honor Society and studied Political Science, as well as Italian Cultural Studies in Florence, Italy for a semester.
