Job Title: Document Specialist

About the Job
As a member of the firmwide Production Center, utilize advanced technical knowledge to determine most efficient and effective way to complete projects. The Document Specialist will prepare, revise, and format various legal documents. Assignments could include advanced word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and other projects. This position will also provide absence coverage for Legal Assistants in the local office.
- High school diploma or equivalent. College degree or some college preferred. Training or certification in relevant applications and technologies preferred.
- Relevant experience in a legal environment required such as Legal Secretary, Document Specialist, Word Processor, Technical Support, Legal Assistant, or Paralegal. Knowledge and experience in litigation required. Experience using advanced functions in Word, Outlook, eCopy or similar, and document management systems required. Strong/advanced knowledge of other applications also desired, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and familiarity with database concepts.
- Fast and accurate typing skills required. Ability to work quickly and multi-task. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Able to demonstrate flexibility and initiative, and anticipate what needs to be done. Can understand and follow specific, detailed instructions. Attentive to detail and highly accurate. Professional manner with clients, attorneys, and others.
Equipment, Physical/Mental Demands, Working Conditions
Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine, etc.
Sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate in person and via telephone with internal and external customers.
Able to deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities. Make decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas and technologies. Communicate and successfully interact with various personalities at all organizational levels.
Typical office setting, normally Monday through Friday business hours. Occasional overtime as required.
