Burns White’s Wilkes-Barre Healthcare Litigation practice focuses on representing doctors, hospitals, and healthcare and long-term care facilities in medical malpractice and liability matters. What you bring to the table…

  • PA license required (NJ license a plus)
  • The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of litigation experience and prior experience with medical malpractice defense and/or insurance defense cases is a plus.
  • Practical experience taking depositions, ability to strategize, plan, and prepare for depositions.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction, and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to synthesize complex legal and medical information ~ journal experience a plus!  
  • Top notch general and legal research skills across the spectrum of search engines.
  • Eagerness to be part of a high-level litigation team and the motivation to put in the work to get there.   
  • A “can do” attitude and a desire to excel along with continuous attention to detail in all areas of work.

Equipment, Physical/Mental Demands, Working Conditions

Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine, etc.

Sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with clients in person and via telephone.

Able to deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities. Make decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas and technologies. Communicate and successfully interact with various personalities at all organizational levels.

Typical office setting, normally Monday through Friday business hours. Occasional overtime as required.
