PITTSBURGH, April 16, 2013David B. White, Founding Member of Burns White LLC, was one of two individuals named as this year’s Distinguished Alumni by Duquesne University School of Law. Mr. White is slated to receive this award on April 19 at the 61st Annual Law Alumni Reunion Dinner, where Former White House Counsel John Dean will be making a special guest appearance.

Mr. White, who was nominated by his peers, was selected by the university for his distinguished achievements in the legal profession. With more than 30 years of experience, Mr. White’s demonstrated legal experience combined with practical business acumen and strong leadership skills have been recognized by his peers and clients throughout Allegheny County and beyond. One of the greatest testimonials to his leadership is the growth of Burns White. Since its inception in 1987, the firm has flourished from a staff of 12 to more than 240 individuals across nine office locations in five states, branching out from its strong roots in civil litigation to become a full-service entity spanning 18 practice areas.

“From the outset, Dave had a keen understanding that the operation of a law firm has two distinct elements — the practice of law and the operation of a business — expending countless efforts to expand Burns White’s legal footprint in an ever-changing environment,” said fellow Founding Member Michael W. Burns. “He has not only worked to make the firm a sound business enterprise, but also a place where people look forward to coming to work. For all of these things and more, I can think of no one more deserving of this award.”

Created in 1973, Duquesne University’s Distinguished Alumni award is presented to candidates who have practiced law for 20 years or more for their outstanding contributions to the legal profession.

Mr. White received a B.S. in Biology from Duquesne University in 1977 and obtained a J.D. from Duquesne’s four-year evening division in 1982, while working as a law clerk at a local law firm.
