Biography

Jessica M. Nelson is an Associate in the firm’s Healthcare Group, focusing her practice on representing hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals and entities with medical malpractice claims.

Prior to joining Burns White, Ms. Nelson was an attorney at a Pittsburgh firm where she represented clients in matters related to products liability, negligence, premises liability, and employer liability.

Ms. Nelson earned her certificate of Paralegal Studies and her Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law, where she received the Outstanding Oral Advocacy Award.  Ms. Nelson received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political science with a minor in English and Print Media Studies from Millersville University.

As a result of Ms. Nelson’s experience, she was selected as a Top 40 Under 40 – Civil Plaintiff by National Trial Lawyers.  Ms. Nelson is an active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, and currently serves as Secretary for the Women in the Law Division. She is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and West Virginia Bar association. She is also active in the Duquesne Law Alumni Association, serving on the Nominating Committee and as a BEST Bar mentor for recent graduates.

Ms. Nelson is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
