D. Scott Newman
Biography
D. Scott Newman joined the law firm of Burns White in 1990 and is a Member of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Practice Group. He represents both self-insured corporations and insurance companies before workers’ compensation judges, the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board, and the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania.
He maintains a secondary concentration in the practice of administrative law under the Federal Coal Mine Health and Safety Act and Black Lung Benefits Act. Mr. Newman has represented numerous coal mine operators and insurance carriers before Federal Administrative Law Judges, the Benefits Review Board, and the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Newman is a graduate of Duquesne University, attaining his B.A. in 1986 and his J.D. in 1989.
Mr. Newman is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He is active in various community and professional organizations, including the Pittsburgh Claims Association and the Mid-Western Claims Association. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations (Workers’ Compensation sections).
