Burns White Welcomes 9 Attorneys in the First Quarter of 2023

Burns White LLC welcomes nine new attorneys with practices spanning healthcare, insurance coverage and extracontractual and railroad law to its offices in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Tampa.

Philadelphia

Healthcare

Courtney A. King is an Associate in the firm’s Philadelphia office.  Ms. King focuses her practice on the defense of nursing homes, healthcare facilities, and medical professionals in nursing home and medical malpractice claims.  Prior to joining Burns White, Ms. King was a Public Defender for the Allegheny County Office of Public Defenders where she provided representation, consultation, and advice to clients during criminal investigative proceedings.  She is a graduate of Widener Law Commonwealth.

Katharine “Kate” C. Koob is Of Counsel in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Ms. Koob focuses her practice on the defense of hospitals, health systems, behavioral health facilities, doctors, nurses, dentists, and other medical and dental professionals in professional and medical malpractice claims.  She has a regular practice of representing clients in trial and arbitration, specifically in cases often involving catastrophic injuries and substantial financial exposure.  She is a graduate of Villanova School of Law.

Kenneth H. Rafferty, II is an Associate in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Mr. Rafferty focuses his practice on defending healthcare providers and medical professionals against professional and general liability matters.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Rafferty served as a Judicial Intern for Justice David N. Wecht of The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, where he researched relevant Pennsylvania law and wrote allocatur reports, presented voting recommendations regarding cases on the vote list, and wrote bench memorandums.  He is a graduate of the Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Duquesne University.

Pittsburgh

Healthcare

Sean T. Bollman is an Associate in the firm’s Pittsburgh office.  Mr. Bollman focuses his practice on Healthcare and Long-Term Care law, defending doctors, hospitals, and long-term care health facilities in medical malpractice and liability matters.  Prior to joining Burns White, Mr. Bollman was an attorney for a Pittsburgh firm where he drafted and negotiated various contracts including settlement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and business transfer agreements. Mr. Bollman also assisted clients in conducting risk assessments and forming business entities.  He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Insurance Coverage and Extracontractual

Adam P. Murdock is an Associate in Burns White’s Pittsburgh office. Mr. Murdock focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and insurance coverage and extracontractual litigation.  Prior to joining Burns White, Mr. Murdock was an attorney for a Pittsburgh firm where he represented clients in general civil litigation matters in the areas of business and real estate. He also represented clients at a previous firm in matters related to personal injury, nursing home abuse and neglect, medical malpractice, and sexual assault claims.  He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Railroad

Jessica E. Christie is an Associate in Burns White’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania headquarters. Ms. Christie focuses her practice on railroad law where she represents Class I and short-line railroads in cases that involve allegations of personal and occupational injuries and wrongful death.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Christie worked at 412 Food Rescue, at the University of Pittsburgh, and at Wigle Whiskey.  She is excited to return to the practice of law.  She is a graduate of Villanova School of Law.

Courtney A. Murphy is a Member in Burns White’s Pittsburgh office.  Ms. Murphy focuses her practice on Discovery and E-Discovery topics within the Railroad Law space.  Ms. Murphy has extensive experience in electronic discovery, having worked at several large law firms as an e-discovery attorney prior to joining Burns White.  In her previous roles, Ms. Murphy counseled clients and case teams on preservation and collection methodologies, data assessment, review workflows, and document production processes, and developed and conducted training sessions for legal and technological topics.  She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Tampa

Healthcare

Alexis M. Connell is Member in Burns White’s Tampa office.   With over 15 years of legal experience, Ms. Connell specializes in defending physicians, nurses, administrators, and other healthcare professionals in complex medical malpractice, aging services, professional liability, and general liability matters.  Earlier in her career, Ms. Connell worked at two major defense firms in Florida, where she focused on nursing home defense, professional liability, general liability, and insurance defense matters. She is a graduate of Florida Coastal School of Law.

Theresa A. Domenico is a Member in Burns White’s Tampa office. Ms. Domenico has two decades of legal experience in medical malpractice defense, aging services litigation, general liability, and premises liability. She is also a Certified Arbitrator in the state of Florida and represents clients in resolving disputes outside of court.  Ms. Domenico represents physicians, nurses, administrators, insurers, and other healthcare professionals in a wide range of litigation, including medical malpractice claims, personal injury, insurance matters, pain management, and pharmaceutical laboratory compliance. She is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law.
