A Tampa office trial team of Ed Carbone and Jillian Goldman went to trial in Bradenton, Florida, on an admitted liability, rear-end motor vehicle accident claim after settlement negotiations broke down a few weeks before trial. The Plaintiff claimed serious injuries to her neck, lower back, right shoulder, and right knee, which her expert witnesses testified would require future medical care costing $1.2 to $1.9 million.
At the end of a four-day jury trial, Plaintiff’s counsel asked the jury to award over $3 million in total damages. The jury deliberated for approximately 2.5 hours before returning a verdict for $580,000, which should be reduced to approximately $520,000 to account for pre-trial payments to the Plaintiff.
