Attorneys Mundy, Woolsey, & Mintz Obtain Unanimous Defense Verdict in COVID-19 Nursing Home Malpractice Trial

On May 17, attorneys William J. Mundy and Alexandra R. Woolsey obtained a unanimous defense verdict in a nursing home malpractice trial in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. Attorney Philip M. Mintz sat in as appellate counsel. Plaintiff claimed that the facility failed to follow infection control policies and isolate a COVID-19-positive resident, resulting in the roommate contracting and ultimately dying from a COVID-19 infection. The case is believed to be the first COVID-19 case to go to verdict in Pennsylvania and only the sixth in the United States.
