Attorney Anthony Sunseri secured a jury verdict exceeding $1.3 million on behalf of an estate in Beckley, West Virginia. The case involved allegations that fraudulent powers of attorney were prepared and used to make unauthorized medical and financial decisions on behalf of a vulnerable individual. Evidence presented at trial demonstrated that these actions resulted in medical treatment that conflicted with the individual’s expressed healthcare directives, including the placement of a feeding tube, unauthorized access to financial assets, and the restriction of family visitation during the individual’s final days. After hearing the evidence, the jury returned a verdict in excess of $1.3 million, including $600,000 in punitive damages, in favor of the estate.
