Burns White announced that Joseph C. Romano is joining Thomas C. Kelly as Co-Chair of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Group. Mr. Romano will be replacing longtime attorney and respected firm leader D. Scott Newman, as he will be stepping back from his role as Co-Chair of the group, effective January 1, 2026. Mr. Newman will continue to serve the firm in an active capacity as Executive Committee Member and will remain involved in client work and team support.
“It has been an honor to lead this exceptional group of attorneys,” said D. Scott Newman. “As I take a step back from day-to-day responsibilities, I remain committed to our clients and to supporting the next generation of leaders within the practice and the firm.”
“Scott has been instrumental in building this practice, and we are grateful for the leadership and vision he has brought to the role,” said Stuart T. O’Neal, Chief Executive Officer of Burns White. “As Scott steps back, we are fortunate to have Joe Romano assume the role. Joe is a respected leader with a proven track record, and his appointment reflects both the depth of talent within our firm and our continued commitment to excellence and client service.”
Mr. Romano brings extensive experience and leadership to the group, as he has been actively involved in the group’s strategic initiatives since joining Burns White 16 years ago. “I am excited to step into this role and build upon the momentum created by our team,” said Joe Romano. “Our focus remains on delivering exceptional results for our clients.”
