About the Job
The person in this position will be responsible for supporting multiple attorneys in their day-to-day First Party Property Defense and Insurance Coverage practice. This includes helping to establish and manage workflow systems, maintaining case files, coordinating various events and deadlines, preparing legal documents, and serving as a point of contact to clients. The legal assistant also facilitates the delegation of work to/from the Production Center, ensuring work is completed within deadlines and according to attorneys’ specifications.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent. College, business school, or other relevant continuing education preferred.
- At least two years’ experience as a Litigation Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary, preferably in an insurance coverage practice.
- Highly organized with a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Professional manner with clients, attorneys, and others.
- Strong secretarial skills including typing, proofreading, spelling, and grammar.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite applications, especially MS Word.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, efficiently handle multiple projects, and prioritize tasks with competing deadlines.
- Attentive to detail and highly accurate.
Equipment, Physical/Mental Demands, Working Conditions
Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine, etc.
Sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate in person and via telephone with internal and external customers.
Able to deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities. Make decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas and technologies. Communicate and successfully interact with various personalities at all organizational levels.
