Biography
Lawrence J. Baldasare is a Member of Burns White whose practice is a unique synergy of workers’ compensation law and employer liability law.
For more than 35 years, Mr. Baldasare has successfully defended insurers and a variety of major Pittsburgh corporations, including healthcare providers, steel companies, chemical companies, glass manufacturers, and automobile dealerships, in workers’ compensation and occupational disease litigation. He is certified as a Specialist in the practice of Workers’ Compensation Law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Section on Workers’ Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in January 2012.
Mr. Baldasare’s employment practice involves litigation initiated by employees for sexual harassment and discrimination, including claims related to sex, age, race, religion, and national origin, and disability-based discrimination. He also defends employers and businesses in employee claims involving the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law. In addition, Mr. Baldasare counsels clients on a host of employment issues, from pre-employment to termination to employee handbooks and general employment policies.
Prior to joining Burns White, Mr. Baldasare was a Founding Shareholder of Dapper, Baldasare, Benson, Behling & Kane, P.C. in Pittsburgh, until the firms merged in January 2016.
Mr. Baldasare graduated from Duquesne University School of Law, where he was Executive Recent Decisions Editor of the Duquesne Law Review. He also received a B.A. from Duquesne University.
Mr. Baldasare is a frequently requested speaker on both workers’ compensation and employment law topics, including those related to the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act, various Civil Rights Acts, the federal and state Wage and Hour statutes, and privacy in the workplace.
An active member of the legal community, Mr. Baldasare belongs to the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Baldasare has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America® since 1995 and in Pennsylvania Super Lawyers® from 2006-2009.
