William J. Mundy
Biography
William J. Mundy brought his well-established healthcare group to Burns White in 2007. He is a Member of the firm’s Executive Committee and Co-chair of its Healthcare and Long-Term Care Group. Mr. Mundy’s practice is focused on the representation of long-term healthcare providers and the defense of medical malpractice and professional liability claims.
Mr. Mundy has written several articles on long-term care litigation, including “Scampone v. Grane: Changing the Landscape for Nursing Home Litigation,” The Legal Intelligencer, January 25, 2011; “Arbitration Agreements in Long-Term Care: The Impact of the Federal Arbitration Act and U.S. Supreme Court Opinions,” New Jersey Law Journal, March 26, 2012; and “Health Care REITs: Increased Revenue, Increased Risk,” The Legal Intelligencer, March 17, 2015.
Mr. Mundy is a frequent guest speaker for a number of professional organizations and private industry groups, lecturing locally and nationally on issues in long-term healthcare. In addition, he has appeared on several law and news programs, including The American Law Journal and It’s Your Call with Lynn Doyle to discuss issues critical to the long-term care industry.
In 2009, Mr. Mundy was designated as the Defense Bar Liaison Counsel for the Philadelphia County Nursing Home Litigation Program. He serves as co-counsel for the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA)/Center for Assisted Living Management’s Tort Liability Committee, assisting with policy and legislative initiatives in support of the healthcare industry in Pennsylvania. Mr. Mundy is also a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee and the PHCA’s Long-Term Care Specialty Council.
In 2002, Mr. Mundy was recognized by The Legal Intelligencer and the Pennsylvania Law Weekly in the inaugural publication “50 on the Fast Track” — a listing of the top 50 young attorneys in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. For eight years, he has been named a Super Lawyer* in the annual Philadelphia Magazine review. He is also “AV®” rated by Martindale-Hubbell**, which is the highest rating given for legal ability and professional ethics.
Mr. Mundy previously served on the board of the Delaware County chapter of the American Red Cross, as well as several of its planning and fundraising committees.
