Position Summary
Carry out all phases of legal billing in legal billing software.
Essential Job Functions

BILLING
- Process changes and edits and generate invoices according to firm procedures.
- Perform electronic client billing accurately and consistent with firm and client protocols.
- Monitor the status of uploaded statements, and research and resolve the causes of any short-paid or rejected invoices. Ensure that timely appeals are filed, making any necessary corrections.
- Track and follow up on appealed invoices to ensure accurate and timely revisions and resubmission, coordinating any needed information from the attorneys and/or the client.
- Follow up, answer questions, and respond to requests, related to client billing activity.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc reports related to client billing. Review, analyze, summarize, and present information to supervisors or responsible attorneys.
- Communicate and serve as a resource to clients, attorneys, and staff regarding client billing matters.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting-related field or equivalent experience.
- 1-5 years of legal billing, specifically, electronic billing is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with legal billing software (e.g., Aderant, Elite, 3E) and e-billing portals (e.g., BillBlast, eBillingHub).
- Familiarity with the full billing cycle, e-billing vendor sites, and/or other legal billing software a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Highly accurate and attentive to detail.
- Analytical abilities and mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently, identify problems, and determine resolutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized and able to prioritize work and multi-task.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and when dealing with difficult customers.
Equipment, Physical/Mental Demands, Working Conditions
Personal computer and other office equipment such as telephone, typewriter, calculator, fax machine, duplicating machine, etc. Sitting for extended periods, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines. Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with clients in person and via telephone. Able to deal with stress in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities. Make decisions and adapt to changing work situations. Grasp and apply new ideas and technologies. Communicate and successfully interact with various personalities at all organizational levels. Typical office setting, normally Monday through Friday business hours. Occasional overtime as required.
