Members Daniel Martz and Carol Cowhey obtained a unanimous defense verdict following a 6-day medical malpractice trial in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. The case involved a claim of delayed diagnosis of an aggressive malignant sarcoma which plaintiff alleges should have been diagnosed by the defendant dermatologic surgeon 15 months earlier. Dan and Carol established that Defendant properly treated a benign biopsy-proof lesion for which the patient was referred and established that the sarcoma was a separate process that developed in a different anatomical location more than a year later.
