This webinar provided an overview of the many purposes that an employment handbook serves, as well as how important it is for an employer to develop and utilize a handbook that is comprehensive and up-to-date. As handbooks that include poorly drafted policies and procedures can be turned into a weapon and used against an employer in challenging employment decisions, it is imperative for employers to ensure that their handbooks address problems before they occur in order mitigate exposure against potential claims. This segment reviewed the multiple purposes for utilizing an employee handbook, such as orienting new employees, communicating employer policies, procedures and expectations, establishing company culture, and complying with governmental laws and regulations.
